Review of Midweek games.

There were twelve games played during the week.

In Div. One Hillgate FC at home to Northenden Town, the visitors found themselves two down before settled and pulled back to all square with a good move down the right involving Macauley Eyre and Scott Joyce who scored with a neat thigh control and a volley in the bottom corner. He then got the equaliser fortuitously when the Hillgate keeper punched the ball from Conor Sanderson’s cross onto the chest of Joyce which landed in the net. That was the end of Northenden’s luck Hillgate went on to win 4-2.

Nth Reddish WMC and Mountfield shared the points in a one all draw, both goals coming in the second half following a cagey first half. Mountfield took the lead after the Club had lost possession on the half way line, Reece Easton heading home from George Mills’s cross. Club applied the pressure and were unlucky not to score with a thunderbolt shot from Kyle Clarke that rattled the Mountfield crossbar. The next effort with two minutes left on the clock was more fruitful, Ryan Jones putting his cross on the head of Brendan Reil for the deserved equaliser.

Cheadle FC and Northenden FC were also involved in a game that was always in the balance. Matt Christie’s penalty giving Cheadle the first half advantage. A smart move between Tom Francis and Jason Aston saw Ashton get a deserved equaliser. It was left to Ben Reeves to decide the game in Cheadle’s favour just before the hour.

Offerton Green had a comfortable win over Stockport Cosmos. From a Daniel Birch corner Luke Flanagan opened the scoring from close range. Birch then got on the scoresheet with the second. On the stroke of half time James Webb got the third. Cosmos to their credit performed a lot better but could produce the finishing touch. Henry Jackson headed in the fourth. James Webb completed the scoring. A special mention for the Cosmos keeper Calvin Eadie, his performance between the posts kept the score line respectable.

Railway beat County Supporters with a goal apiece from Danny Garvey assisted by Ben Spibey and Cian McLoughlin netting the second.

The six games played in Div Two produced forty goals.

Top scorers were Cheshire Milkmen at home to Woodhouse Park Avengers. Will Shirt netting four, there were two apiece for Jordan Barry and Freddie Marston and one each for Matt Seery and Zack Briley. Miles Vare providing the assists for four of the goals. Avengers lone scorer was Callum Oswell.

Didsbury Reds and Edgeley Villa Hatters played out a good fast entertaining game. A cross from Leon Lonergan found Jamie Bower whose shot went into the home net via the post. Poor defending at the other end failed to cut out a cross which was chested down and volleyed into the Hatters net. The game flowed from end to end in the second half finally decided with a goal worthy to win any game. Logan Gamble’s measured pass over the Reds defence found Jay Odi who with unerring accuracy found the top corner of the Reds net.

Both Bosden Farm Albion and Sto. Orion had to thank their keepers for the point they both won. Bosden’s Will Humphrey and Orion’s Leon Holmes both put on an astounding display of goalkeeping. Bosden took a two goal lead, Jade Barber from Jimmy Boulton’s pass pulled one back before the break. It was Barber with his third goal in two games with virtually the last kick of the game netted the equaliser. But it was the keepers that won their team’s points.

Cheadle Hulme Galaxy took an early lead with a Will Harris penalty at home against Reddish Phoenix but that was their only success. But within ten minute Phoenix netted three times. Sam Findlow tapped in Sean Daley’s cross. Daley rounded the keeper for the second. Max Greenhalgh added the third then went on to completed his hat trick before the half time whistle, his third was from the penalty spot. The sixth and final goal was a scrambled effort in the area scored by Sean Daley.

Man& Chorlton down one nil at half time away at Wythenshawe Wanderers scored three without reply in the second half. Tom Boulter rounded the keeper for the equaliser, he then provided the cross for Jack Mackay to head them in front. A tap in from Feras Dalim’s cross got Dan Murray his goal to complete the scoring.

Edgeley Villa made it a good week for the club with a comfortable win over Bosden Farm Rovers. The combination of Rick Kelly and Jack Atkinson caused mayhem to the Rovers defence throughout. Kelly opened the scoring, Atkinson via the crossbar and the keepers backside got the second. They then combined for Kelly to get his second. From a long throw in by Dave Herbert, Atkinson headed in the fourth. He then went on to complete his hat trick with a run from the half way line. Not to be outdone Kelly completed his before the break. Credit to Bosden, they cashed in on a defensive error to close the gap with nobody around it was a simple task by whoever to put the ball into the empty net. At the other end Arkinson rolled the ball under the keeper for his fourth. Kelly added the eighth no not that one this time it was Shae. Bosden had the honour of scoring the last goal of the game, again sloppy defending gave them the opportunity.

Higher Poynton had a comfortable 7-1 home win over Adswood United.
