The weather severely effected the opening fixtures of 2016 with just nine league and three cup games being played. In NAPIT ONE the only game played was contested by Tibshelf Town and Hopflower Utd and Town produced a solid performance and won the game by five goals to nil. Armstrong, Webley, Harris, Hadley and Whitton were all on target in the victory.
In TWO only one game went ahead as well with leaders FC Utd of Bolsover taking on West End Killamarsh. Again as in most of Utd’s previous games they dominated for long periods and ran out comfortable 6-0 winners and moved nine points clear of second placed New Whitt in the process. Ash Cheetham and Josh Scully both scored twice whilst Sam Ward and Jack Weaver also found the back of the net.
Again just one game in THREE and it saw Luke Mathewman hit a hat trick as Red Lion Whittington Moor outplayed AFC North Wingfield to win the game 5-0, Shelton and McTighe adding to Mathewman’s treble.
Carl Vagilio’s footballing New Year got off to a fantastic start as he scored four times as his Butchers Arms side routed Club FC 9-3 in FOUR. Mark Woods and Jamie Rowan both hit doubles in the win with Ryan Lindley adding goal number nine.
In FIVE Bolsover Town handed Dronfield Wanderers a nightmare start to the New Year by thrashing them by eleven goals to nil. A fine all round performance from Town saw nine different players hit the target with Kyle Perrins and Josh Nicholls leading the way with two goals, Luke Knightly, Joel Searson, Jordan Dixon, Tom Dunlop, Ash Scattergood, Liam Richardson and Ryan Capuano scoring one apiece.
Two games went ahead in SIX and Evolution moved into second place by beating Woodthorpe Wanderers 5-1 in one of them, Liam Codling and Jack Warwick both scoring twice, Harry Oakley once. Lockoford Inn suffered another defeat, going down 5-0 at Furnace Hill Hurricanes with Pete Stubley giving Lockoford a lesson in goal scoring as he hit four goals, Adam Fareham adding the fifth.
In SEVEN, like in SIX two games went ahead. Leaders Brimington Club took on third placed Anchor Clowne at their Oxcroft home and just shaded the game, winning by the odd goal in five, Paul Buxton, Paul Johnson and Reece Nuttall the match winners. Stephen Sweeney scored twice, Corey Bluff and Ryan Marriott once as New Bolsover Social Club beat Ye Olde Nags Head 4-2.
Two NAPIT sides exited the Derbyshire Senior and Junior Sunday Cup's respectively, Creswell Black Diamond in the Senior and New All Inn in the Junior losing to Edge Hill and Stocksbrook. Renishaw Rangers did progress to round five of the Junior Cup however as they beat Pilsley Community 5-2 in an all NAPIT clash, Adam Syddall scoring twice, Mark Robinson, Liam Pritchard and Karl Knowles once.
