H&W to play Gillingham in final on May 15th
Havant and Waterlooville gave a solid performance today to see off South East Combination league runners up Norwich City.
In blustery conditions H&W profited from Norwich's errors and got themselves into a 2-0 lead after 2 good H&W corners were not cleared and both were smartly put away.
Norwich got back into it courtesy of a penalty after H&Ws keeper upended an oncoming striker. The referee only showed a yellow, but many would say that H&W were lucky to have their keeper on the field of play as she did appear to be the only thing between the striker and the goalnet.
Norwich converted to give them some hope just as the game went to half time. H&W got back the 2 goal advantage shortly after the restart when the Norwich keeper kicked a weak ball from her hands only to see it returned over her head from 23 yards out.
Charley Wilson got H&W another goal ahead after chasing a lost cause and harrassing Norwich into more errors, and the Hawks got a fifth deep into the game to finish 5-1 winners.
Hawks will play Gillingham next Sunday at 2pm. Venue is Cheshunt FC, Cheshunt, Middlesex. The winner of this match will take their place in the Southern Division of the FA Women's Premier League.
