Alconbury retain the Joe Mansfield Cup

JOE MANSFIELD CUP FINAL 27/4/2014

Alconbury won the Joe Mansfield Cup in an entertaining game 4-1 against a spirited AFC Barley Mow side played at St.Neots Town FC.

Both teams played end to end football using the wide areas to build up some attacking football.

In an even first half hour Alconbury broke the deadlock with the opening goal scored by James Mackrell and followed it up just before half time with header from Jon Horsley.

Barley Mow continued to enjoy some spells of possession in the second half but a somewhat scrambled goal by Lewis Stone on the hour and another 2 mins later straight from a corner by Jake Goodall sealed AFC Barley Mows fate.

Sean Sweeny however pulled back the arrears after 70 mins slipping a through ball past the advancing Danny Stone.

This was a credit to local Sunday football played in a very sporting manner.
