Well the cup final season got off to a fantastic start with the first final played out in front of a good crowd of 226 in a chilly evening at Sheppey United.
The final started with a bang with opening goal coming within the first couple of minutes for Park Regis Neo from Harry Taylor.
Range Rovers hit back after 9 minutes with a Harry Goodger goal to even the scores before adding a second on 20 minutes to take Rovers into the lead.
Neo pushed for an equaliser and it came courtesy of a deflected shot from Dan Organ that left Olly Dewey wrong footed as it sneaked in the far post.
In the 60th minute a handball in the Rovers box brought about a penalty for Neo which was confidently despatched by Frank Phipps.
Neo held onto the lead as the game became more stretched until Jordan Pearce scored in the 76th minute to bring about a tense final 15 minutes.
With both teams pressing for the win and extra time looming in the 89th minuteJames Rogers picked the ball up on the left wing before cutting into the box before playing the ball with his right foot into the far corner of the net beyond Dewey.
A tense 4 minutes were played out with Neo holding on for the win and bragging rights in the first of what promises to be 4 great finals between these two fairly evenly matched sides.
A great advert for the Sheppey Sunday League.
Our thanks go to our sponsors for the cup The Red Lion and we thank them for their continued support. Also a big thank you also goes to Sheppey United who allowed us to use the facilities the night before one of the biggest games in their recent history.
