Proposed update on remaining fixtures subject to Government and GFA guidelines

As you are aware, following the government announcement on Mon 4th Jan & the subsequent guidance published by the FA, all BGFL fixtures for Jan and early Feb 2021 have been postponed. Full time has been updated.

The position so far...

Given the significant impact on fixtures & the rising Covid numbers/concerns, we recently issued a survey to all league teams to gather opinions on their preference for the remaining part of the season. Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who took part in the survey - we were delighted with a response rate of over 85%. Overwhelmingly, the majority of managers/coaches indicated that subject to the government/FA guidelines, they wish to finish the season and fulfil remaining fixtures. It was also widely expressed that it was in the best interests & the wellbeing of the girls that matches should continue. This is also the opinion of the league who would also like to complete the season if possible.

Next steps

Taking this feedback into account, the committee met and reviewed the remaining fixtures across all age groups & came up with the following approach. This is subject to the government/FA allowing grassroots football to resume from mid-February.

U8-U11s

* U8 – U11 postponed fixtures have been voided on full time until Sunday 14th February. League fixtures remain in place to resume from the 21st February* *Subject to Government/FA allowing.
* Teams should check their fixtures on FA Full time and are free to add additional fixtures up until 23rd May 2021.
* You must let the fixture secretary know immediately of any games that have been either cancelled or added so that FA Full time can be updated accordingly. Email: fixturesresultsu711bgfl@gmail.com

U12s

* Kevin Little will be holding a zoom meeting shortly with both divisions to devise/agree a plan going forward.

U13-U16s

* Additional fixtures have been removed. Postponed fixtures have now been rearranged for you.
* Fixtures now run from 7th March until 23rd May 2021 with the hope to complete the season & make awards.
* Teams should look at full time & check dates, any dates that are not convenient please talk to the opposition and let the league know the new dates. Email: fixturesresults1216bgfl@gmail.com


NB: Teams can also use Saturdays, night games & double fixtures to get fixtures played.

The league committee is meeting again on 17th February to discuss any announcements made by the government and will, by the 23rd February decide on the best way to conclude the season if we can.
