Inspired by a Stewart Jackson double, Bootle St. Edmunds assumed pole position in the race for the MSC Express West Cheshire League's Division One title, following Friday evening's 4-1 eclipse of Prescot Cables Res. Further efforts from Brad Shearwood and Garry Law completed the score line with Tyreek McCallum on target for the visitors, WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.
An own goal earned Litherland Remyca Res. their third win of the season at the expense of Chester Nomads, while Ellesmere Port Town capitulated 6-0 to goals from Maghull's Robbie McDonald(3) Charlie Taylor, Nick Kerr and Jay Hooper.
A Ryan Nicoll effort and an own goal proved scant reward for Capenhurst Villa, who went down 3-2 at home to replies from Aintree Villa's Dan Evans, Joel Jackson and Chris Hughes. On the mark for Vauxhall Motors Res., in their 4-1 victory at Marshalls were Shay Roberts (2) Joe Ford and Graham Mort. Franki Pashias netted for the hosts.
Fourth placed Mossley Hill Ath. spurned the opportunity to go third in the table following a 0-0 stalemate with Rainhill Town but it was celebration time for Marine U23's, doubles from Harrison Denton and Alex Northover anchoring the Crosby side to a 4-1 win at Heswall, who replied via Dan O'Halloran.
Division Two leaders, Poulton Vics, maintained their hundred per cent record but left it late at Maghull Res who scored through Jacob Jones. The visitors responded through Frankie Ward before a last gasp winner from Harvey Robinson saved the day for the Vics. The Turkington brothers made an immediate impact since their transfers from local rivals, Helsby, Lee (2) and Tom making the scoresheet in Runcorn Sports' 4-0 win against Sutton Ath. Keelan Densmore was the other marksman.
Luca Murtagh and Charlie Jones obliged for West Kirby but it was second placed Ashville Res., who profited, efforts from Jordan Dilworth, Leon Jones and Billy Rainbow securing a 3-2 victory for the home side.
Jack Samuel gave Helsby the lead at Mallaby before a last-minute penalty from Jack Ledsham restored parity while Mossley Hill Ath. Res savoured a 5-1 result over South Sefton Borough, thanks to goals from Eric Byrne (2) Harvey Bleasedale, Liam Blundell and Fraser Garvey. Sefton had Tom Redem on the mark.
Efforts from Cheshire Lines' Andy Dickinson and Peter Williamson, were negated by replies from South Liverpool Res.' Adam Shelton and Harvey Billington. Making up Poulton Royal's contribution in their 3-1 decision over Marshalls Res. were efforts from Greg Sandalls, Steve Casey and an own goal with Lee Atkinson bagging the visitors' consolation.
In Division Three, pacesetters , Aintree Villa Res., opened up a five point lead at the top when a Stephen Andrews hat trick was supplemented by further efforts from Matty Sohl and Dylan Lawless, in Saturday's 5-0 rout of Heswall Res.
Despite goals from Jay Roberts and Cam Meadows, nearest rivals, Neston Nomads forfeited ground after they finished 2-2 with South Liverpool 3rds who answered through Cam Inglis and Jack Bryant.
A smart double from Courtney Bushell, allied to further strikes from Sam Stephens and Adam Hesketh steered Helsby Res. to a 4-0 triumph over Rainhill Town Res. while three goal Lloyd Ithell took the plaudits as Hooton breezed to a
5-1 verdict over Runcorn Sports Res. Singles from Nathan Saunders and Danny Cross completed the statistics, Connor Dennet finding the net for Sports.
West Kirby Res. maintained their unbeaten run, Owen Hollywood(2) Peter Brown and Joe Stephenson sharing the goals in a 4-2 win against Chester Nomads Res., who had Luke Floyd and Spencer Postles on target.
Connor Griffiths scored for Poulton Vics Res., who were denied by Groves, efforts Ryan Maxwell(2) and Corey Beaven guiding the Ellesmere Port outfit to a 3-1 victory.
Saturday's Youth Division action saw leaders South Liverpool, go two points clear at the top when Steve Swindell (2) Ian Harnick, Kian Skinley, Ellis Jago and Shea Wordsworth made the scoresheet in a 6-1 result over Runcorn Linnets who had Mike Martin in response.
Second placed Mossley Hill Ath. scored through Remy Clovis but dropped two points after Victoria Colts equalised via Rory Alldis, while Ormskirk West End's 2-0 win over Maghull was confirmed by a goal apiece from Adam Proctor and Zach Carberry.
Elsewhere, a double from Vauxhall Motors' Charlie Rooke was cancelled out by replies from City of Liverpool's Adam Lyons and Will Harrison.
