The 3rd Annual Pre-Season Tournament was held on Sunday 9th August 2009

The 3rd Dore Metals Sheppey Sunday League Pre-Season Tournament took place on Sunday at the Sittingbourne Football Ground and amongst the clear blue skies and rising temperatures it was White Horse that shone through the 40 teams to claim the title in another successful Tournament for the League.

League Secretary Mark Rogers said ? We were really pleased how well the Tournament went, what with the good weather and the 40 teams taking part it was good to see so many people coming out to support the League and have a really enjoyable day.?

At the height of the day the crowd swelled to around 500 people enjoying the football and the good weather.

Rogers added ? The standard of the football was good to see and all the group stages were keenly contested down to the knockout stages, but all the games were played with a good sporting spirit.?

The Tournament was eventually won by White Horse B who beat The Goat A 4-0 to land the title to a White Horse side for the second time in three seasons.

Rogers concluded ? The League would like to express its grateful thanks to all the Players, Referees and supporters that turned out on the day for making it another success for the League and a special thanks to our good friends at Sittingbourne Football Club for the use of their facilities.?
