G T SPORTS GAIN LEAGUE AND CUP DOUBLE
G T Sports gain the narrowest of wins as a David Grey goal gave them victory over long term rivals Kingsmead and clinched a league and cup double.
It took until the 12th minute before either side had a shot and goal and G T’s Ben Wych tried his luck from 25 yards but was comfortably saved by Kings keeper Andy King. As play swung to the other end Jordan Reeves was left unmarked from a corner but glanced his header wide. G T Sports had most of the first half possession but could not create any clear cut chances as Kingsmead were resolute in defence although when King was beaten by a header there was a Kingsmead defender on the line to clear and just before half time Grey missed the best opening of the first half when given a clear sight of goal.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first half, the best chance falling to G T Sports Dave Cooper when his close range shot comeback off the bar. As the match entered the last quarter, there were a spate of yellow cards for some niggly challenges and with extra time looming Grey eventually broke the deadlock with less than 10 minutes to goal as he was left unmarked at the far post and rifled his shot home.
