Headers and Throw-ins (u7-u9)
The "No heading" trial has been a success and "no heading" has been adopted into the rules for u7, u8 and u9 this coming season 2024-25. In 2025-26 it will be extended to include u10, and the season after to include u11. U12 and up will always be allowed to head the ball.
But in a surprise move, we have to combine "no heading" with "No Throw-ins". The logic is simple, an aerial ball encourages heading or high kicks. Instead, u7, u8 and u9 need to use a kick-in. They can either pass it to a team mate or dribble it in themselves - but they cannot shoot and score direct from the kick-in (it must be passed or dribbled).
Refer to our Rules, 20 K. It applies to League and Cup matches.
