Anstey Town go top, but the title will not be decided until next week.
Anstey Town finally stepped up to the plate and topped the div1 table, but not before they were beaten 1-2 at home in midweek by Lutterworth Athletic and trailed 2-0 at FC Braunstone Victoria at the weekend. They say good teams create their own luck and there was a lot of that around as Anstey pulled level by half time and took the victory; 2-3 with a 2nd half winner, the title to be decided at Sileby Town next week, winner take all, a draw to be in Anstey?s favour.
Braunstone, unbeaten in their previous 5 starts, finished 4th, a good return for their 1st senior season. 2 away wins on the spin, a midweek 2-3 victory at Huncote Sports and Social and a battling 0-1 win at Asfordby Amateurs guaranteed Saffron Dynamo 3rd spot and, being the highest `lit? div1 club possible promotion in the event of the Premier division needing to make up the numbers.
The other newcomers, Hathern, clinched 5th place with their 2nd win on the spin, 2-3 at Constabulary after Dave Insley netted 2 in the 1st 15 minutes and Lutterworth Athletic completed a good week, to finish 6th, with a 4-1 defeat of Cottesmore Amateurs after Billy Hayes netted a goal in each half.
Lutterworth Town completed their 4 match unbeaten end of season run in with a 0-0 draw with Huncote Sports and Social.
