Six of the eleven games were lost to the terrific wet weather over the last couple of days, but the remaining five games rewarded the brave players and spectators with a total of 23 goals.
Challengers ASHBY IVANHOE and HOLBROOK SPORTS were amongst those clubs out of action, so ST ANDREWS took the opportunity of increasing their lead at the top of the table with a 3-1 home win over a BORROWASH VICTORIA who put their off-field problems behind them to take a 19th minute lead through former Graham Street Prims front runner James Rushby. Perry Johnson levelled things up just one minute into the second half and Mitch Warner put the Saints ahead with 14 minutes left. As brave Vics pushed up for a point Dan Henfrey put the icing on the cake for the table toppers with a 90th minute third.
SOUTH NORMANTON ATHLETIC failed in their bid to make ground as well going down at GEDLING MINERS WELFARE whose seventh win of the season takes them up to tenth. Tony Law broke the deadlock four minutes before the brake, and second half goals from Jack Hopper and Marlon Waites sealed a fine 3-0 win for the Miners.
ARNOLD TOWN had to come from behind as well in their game at GRAHAM STREET PRIMS. Toby Howard had put the home side ahead as early as the second minute, and half a hour later Brett Staniland doubled the lead. But the Eagles dried their feathers and came out with talons raised for the second half. Luke Smith got them back in the game within six minutes of the restart, Danny Hayes levelled on the hour, Smith got his second of the game on 65 and Courtney Hastings got a fourth ten minutes from the end for a 4-2 victory.
Steve Hart gave BARDON HILL a sixth minute advantage but Scott Mooney levelled within ten minutes for homesters HOLWELL SPORTS. Dan Chatfield put the Quarrymen back in front for the interval and Rich Hanslow extended the advantage seven minutes into the second period. Mooney got a second for Holwell but it wasnt enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat.
After a fine win last week RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC reverted to losing again despite having home advantage in their game against BLABY & WHETSTONE ATHLETIC. Stuart Verrall and Brett Marvin had put the visitors well on top in the first eleven minutes. Marvin got a second and his teams third midway through the second half leaving Matt Gambles late goal for Olympic as nothing more than a consolation.
