Triumphant Tron Trounce Mucky Duck
Once again, the wet winter weather affected the planned football programme, with only six matches staged in our district on Sunday. Tron were at home in the North Hants Senior Cup, facing Mucky Duck, who are top of the Winchester Sunday league and brought with them a proud 100% record to date this season. Chris Morris set about the opposition with a vengeance, racking up a fine hat-trick for Tron. Ross Cook added to the score with a conversion from the penalty spot and Giani Thomas made it five goals to Tron. The visitors managed two goals in reply, slumping to their first reverse of the campaign. Tron are now unbeaten in their last four home games.
Hosts Lamb Inn took on Soldiers Return in a local tie of the North Hants Senior Cup. They had tussled in the league just a few weeks ago, when visitors Lamb Inn emerged narrow winners. How would they fare at home? It was a well-contested game once again, with Lamb taking an early advantage, scoring after 20 minutes 1-0, which remained the score at the interval. Ten minutes after turning round, Lamb extended their lead to 2-0 and the score remained that until, with twenty minutes to go, Warren Hill scored from 25 yards to start the fight-back, 2-1. Then Ellis Hauman equalised 2-2 from 18 yards shortly after. Lamb Inn stepped up their game and restored their lead 3-2 on 78 minutes, and edged further ahead 4-2 on 85 minutes. The game was still close throughout and Alex Izzo scored from 25 yards which was the final score 4-3. Lamb remain unbeaten. Lamb Inn's scorers Sean Blackman, Chris Smalley, Harry Rudge and Ben Nicholls.
New Inn lost their North Hants Chris Price Cup 2-5 against AFC Allbrook, one of the top Southampton and District League sides.
In the Bernard Cornish Cup Chineham Athletic entertained Division 2 outfit UWS. Matthew Cook and Dale Hooper scored for the hosts in a 2-11 defeat. UWS are still unbeaten on their travels this season.
Division 3 side Team FC hammered struggling Division 2 side RAF Odiham Blades 14-4. Team have six games unbeaten under their belts and remain undefeated at home.
