Details for the format of the U12 Cup & Trophy competitions for the 2021/22 season.
The U12s will be split into different competitions:-
U12 CUP COMPETITION
• The U12 CUP will consist of all 6 Division 1 teams, and 5 seeded teams from Division 2, giving a total of 11 teams.
• The seedings for Division 2 teams is based upon results from this season so far and last seasons U11s where available.
• Round 1 will consist of 6 teams playing 3 knockout fixtures and 5 teams getting a bye, all randomly drawn.
• Round 2 will consist of the 3 winners from Round 1 and the 5 teams who received a bye, 8 teams (the quarter-finals) continuing a knock out competition, through to the final.
U12 SHIELD COMPETITION
• The losing teams in Rounds 1 and 2 of the U12 CUP will be entered into the U12 SHIELD competition. This will be 7 teams.
• Round 1 will consist of 2 teams playing 1 fixture and 5 teams getting a bye, all randomly drawn.
• The winner of the Round 1 fixture will go straight to the semi-final.
• Round 2 will consist of the losing team from Round 1 and the 5 teams who received a bye, 6 teams who will play 3 knock out fixtures, with the 3 winners joining the Round 1 winner in the semi finals, with the winners proceeding through to the final.
U12 TROPHY COMPETITION
• The U12 TROPHY will consist of the remaining 5 teams from Division 2 and all 10 Division 3 teams, , giving a total of 15 teams.
• Round 1 will consist of 14 teams playing 7 knockout fixtures and 1 team getting a bye, all randomly drawn.
• Round 2 will consist of the 7 winners from Round 1 and the 1 team who received a bye, (8 teams, the quarter-final), continuing a knock out competition, through to the final.
U12 PLATE COMPETITION
• The losing teams in Rounds 1 and 2 of the U12 TROPHY will be entered into the U12 PLATE competition. This will be 11 teams.
• Round 1 will consist of 6 teams playing 3 knockout fixtures and 5 teams getting a bye, all randomly drawn.
• Round 2 will consist of the 3 winners from Round 1 and the 5 teams who received a bye, 8 teams (the quarter-finals) continuing a knock out competition, through to the final.
GENERAL COMPETITION INFORMTION
• Round 1 of the CUP and TROPHY competitions is scheduled for the 16th October 2021.
• Dates for the future rounds and subsequent SHIELD and PLATE competitions will be advised.
• All ties and byes are randomly drawn.
• The home team is determined as the first team drawn for each tie.
• The home team arranges and pays the referee, as per league fixtures.
• No extra time is played. In the event of a draw the match goes straight to penalties, 5 each and then sudden death.
• Finals are planned for the 23rd April 2022, at a Finals Event hosted by the SSYFL.
