FA YOUTH CUP – Preliminary Round
Three of the Four League clubs that entered the Competition at this stage are through to the next round. Aylestone Park had a 3-1 victory over Stamford AFC with Bruno Capella (2) and Ross Cragg finding the back of the net. Gresley travelled to face Lincoln United and took them all the way to penalties. The tie finished 1-1 at full time so an extra 30 minutes was played and still the sides could not be separated. Gresley finally put their name into the next round as they won 5-4 on penalties, but it could have been so different if Lincolns’ 5th penalty taker had not smashed the ball against the bar. The all LMFYL tie saw St Andrews travel to face Leicester Nirvana at Highfield Rangers ground. This tie also went the full distance as the 2 sides were locked at 0-0 for the 2 hours. St Andrews eventually winning 3-2 on penalties to book their place in the next round. Anstey Nomads and Ashby Ivanhoe both received byes in this round.
The 1st Round Qualifying games will take place week commencing 23rd September 2015
