Review of Midweek games.

Goals aplenty in the midweek games, In the six games played in Division One there were thirty three goals scored. In Division Two honours were even between the home and away teams where forty goals were shared’
In Division One. Offerton got over their shock late defeat on Sunday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hillgate FC. McKenzie Cookson Aiden Dwyer and Tyrone Turner sharing the goals. The result of the night belonged to Winton Wanderers who won a nine goal thriller away at Mountfield Rovers who opened the scoring with a good move then own half, George Mills laid the ball off for Ethan Whitbread to find the back of the visitors net. Now here is the tricky part, and an apology from yours truly for the Winton scorers. I did send out texts asking for them but they were ignored. So all I can say is Winton drew level, went in front with a penalty. Mountfield hit back to lead at half time with two goals from Alex Aylward, his first was from Jack Hodkinson’s corner his second from an Ethan Whitbread pass, they then added a fourth Whitbread again the provider with a corner. Errors in the home defensive rans saw Winton draw level, then, with the game evenly contested, Winton took the points, home with a late winner. Railway FC made it two wins on the trot. Aiden McMahon found himself clear from a John Sarsfield through ball and beat the Vikings keeper in a 1v1 situation. McMahon found Ben Spibey who netted to give Rail a 2-2 half time lead. New signing then got himself on the score sheet with Rails third. ‘Thinking was all over’ Rail, were hanging on when Joey Shingler and Kane Berkeley scored for the Vikings in the last five minutes. Sto. County Supporters found themselves a goal down at home to Lostock when Sam Bowers punished poor defending with his goal. Undaunted, County hit back with a vengeance. Nathan Thomas planted his shot in the top corner for the equaliser to make up for his open goal miss earlier. Mitch Whittle put them in front from the penalty spot. Chris Aspland and Nathan Thompson gave the Lostock keeper no chance with their efforts to make it a 4-1 half time score. On the hour Thomas completed his hat trick, Mitch Whittle ended the scoring with his second. Streford Vics were two goals to good at the break at home to Northenden FC. A Matt Grimes with a penalty and Salah Sadeeh the scorers. Midway through the second half, Niall Nuttall got the third. A late goal from Tom Franks brought Northenden a little bit of success for the efforts. The only draw was the Sto. Cosmos v Reddish WMC. On a miserable wet, windy night both teams struggled with the conditions. Goals from Jake Hammand and Mike Keegan gave Cosmos a two goal half time lead. The Club hit back with two of their own, Joe Hirst with the first then Allatt Summers who then got a second but unfortunately it landed in his own net. It was left to team mate HIrst with his second to win a point and save Allat’s blushes.

Reddish Phoenix top Div. Two but found themselves 3-2 down at half time at home to Edgeley Villa. Max Greenhalgh had given Phoenix a good start with his goal. Villa equalised through Howie Thomas-Leech, Greenhalgh, made it 2-1. Leech turned provider assisting Tom Hannan with his goal. Villa then took the lead with an Oli Burgess following a good move. The Villa lead did not last for long in the second half Greenhalgh completed his hat trick to put his side in front. Sam Findlow increased the lead with his goal. Then to complete a m-o-m performance Greenhalgh netted his fifth to end the scoring. The young Edgeley Villa Hatters at least got three points with a good team performance against Cheshire Milkmen. Kenzie Daniles sent them on their way with the opener from a Logan Gamble pass. He then doubled his tall from an over the top ball from Durino Daniels. Another Gamble Daniels combo saw the latter complete his hat trick. Gamble then completed his ‘hat trick’ of assists putting Jamie Bower through for his goal. Will Shirt, pulled one back for the Milkmen. Daniels instant reply was his fourth goal. Will Shirt punished poor defending with his second goal. But it was Daniels’s night by being the second player of the night to find the net five times. Stockport Orion, kept their run going by taking home the points with their 4-0 win away at Adswood Utd. Leo Rafferty’s header from Finley Croasdale’s corner giving them the half time lead, there had not been much between the two teams until Sam Chambers got on the other side of the touchline. His impact was immediate scoring two goals in quick suxccession. After the Adswood keeper had made two good blocks the ball fell kindly to Saul Hogan for the fourth and last goal. Cheadle Hulme Galaxy were 3-0 up at half time away at Bosden Farm Rovers. Harrison Greenham, Will Hogg, and Cameron Leigh the scorersEthan Cocks added the fourth Bosden, found the target just once. Their other team the Albion were 4-2 up with half an hour to go but could not find a way to keep Poynton’s top scorer Marcus Graham quiet. He got it back to 4-4 scoring twice from the penalty spot. Then left it to Ed Jones to score the winner and send his Poynton teammates happy with the three points. Man& Chorlton just managed to get a team out but every one of them played their part to win the points in their home game against Woodhouse Park. Francis Hill, scored with a header. Arnold Atsivor, with a long range shot that took a deflection got the second. Atsivor, was then brought down in the area, Rob McIntosh via the crossbar scored from the spot. George West scored both Woodhouse’s goals at 2-0 and 3-1
