FA YOUTH CUP
St Andrews booked their place in the next round with a 5-3 home win over Long Eaton United with William Lambert (2), Jack Atkinson, Alex Siwela and Micah Stewart all scoring. The Andrews now face an away tie against Midland League and fellow Leicestershire side Oadby Town. Gresley exited the competition after a 1-0 defeat away at Matlock Town.
NORTHERN DIVISION
Quorn 2014 continue to lead the way as they had a 3-0 victory over Anstey Nomads with Danny Bryans (2) and Jordan Breward doing the damage. Birstall United got back to winning ways with a 4-2 defeat of Holwell Sports. Joe Orme opened the scoring for Birstall and James Pearce doubled the lead with a 25 yard free kick which flew into the top corner. Marcus Young reduced the deficit as he latched onto a long through ball and calmly threaded the ball into the back of the net. Leyton Stimpson made it 3-1 as he out jumped the Holwell defence to power in a header that the keeper could only parry into the net. Holwells’ James Graham then made it 3-2 but James Pearce scored his 2nd of the game in stoppage time to seal the win for Birstall. Ibstock United and Ashby Ivanhoe shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Liam Donaghy with both Ibstocks’ goals with Angus Blair Park and Jack Hoult replying for Ashby. For the 2nd week running Barrow Town hit 9, this time against GNG 2014 in a 9-1 victory. Taps Karempa (3), and singes for Piers Wheeler, George Torr, Brandon Hands, Roman Strong, Taylor Grundy and Dan Robinson inflicting the damage with Mohamed Soumeh getting GNGs’ consolation.
SOUTHERN DIVISION
Aylestone Park 94 had a 5-0 victory over Thurmaston Magpies with Kieran Mackie (2), Callum Armsden, Bradley Roehrig and Finn Murphy scoring. Allexton & New Parks got their League campaign underway with a 2-1 away win over Harborough Town. Daniel Page grabbing both for Allexton with Joel Konteh replying for Harborough.
