Parry's hat-trick launches Tron
The opening Sunday morning of the season began in bright warm sunshine. With Basingstoke Council pitches unavailable this weekend, only a few matches were staged on parish pitches around the villages.
The Division 1 game between North Warnborough and Sporting Silchester was very competitively contested between the former champions and the newly-promoted visitors. Silchester led at half time through a single breakaway goal, Ian Cadnam's half-volley managing to snuck in at the near post. The home side did have a clear first half chance to level the pegging but a chip over the keeper also cleared the crossbar. North Warnborough pressed Silchester in the second half and a fine solo run up the lefthand side by Andy Parker had the visitors backing off before Parker wrong-footed the defence, cut inside and scored the equaliser.
Republic of Chineham made the journey to Berrydown, Overton and managed to take an early lead. Tron, newly transferred from the Saturday section, soon bounced back from the penalty spot on 14 minutes. David Parry stepped up to take the penalty after he was pulled down in the box. Tron took the lead a couple of minutes later, when Parry got his second goal on 14 minutes. Harry Palmer increased the home lead to 3-1 on 16 minutes, which remained the score at the halfway point. Early in the second half Republic of Chineham pulled a goal back. On 70 minutes Jamie Smith made the game safe for Tron from distance, before Parry completed his hat trick ten minutes from the end. The match finished Tron 5 Republic of Chineham 2.
Only a single Division 2 game was staged, AFC Hook drawing 1-1 with Eastrop Eagles. Tim Barnett netting for Hook from a header.
