Congratulations to Abbeytown WFC who won the Cumbria Women's League, season 2013/14.

Abbeytown WFC, an ever present team in the Cumbria Women's League since the formation in 2008 have retained the title.

Abbeytown WFC won their first title in 2010/11, were beaten in a play off for the title in 2011/12 (by Kendal Town after finishing equal on points) and have now been Champions for the past two seasons (2012/13 & 2013/14).

The club have always had a strong foundation with the player pathway for girls starting at Under 10, enabling girls to play at all age groups in the area.

The title went down to the final day, with Abbeytown WFC needing to beat Workington Reds Ladies. A draw or a win for the Reds would have meant a first league title for the team from Workington. With Abbeytown WFC winning 4-0, Workington Reds LFC finished runners up in only their second season - a fantastic effort.

The change in structure for this season meant the top three teams played each other 4 times to determine who the Champions would be. Carlisle City and Barrow Celtic played off for position while Abbeytown, Crown Newlaithes and Workington Reds played for the title.
