Looking back at 2012

This is my first season as Chairman of the Bexley and district junior football league and I am very excited by the challenge that has been laid before me.

I have been around youth football for some time now. I have been both a player(although many moons ago) and a manager and I really wanted to have some other challenge in football.

I was asked by the committee in 2009 to assist with the Bexley league representative team which was a major struggle to pull together. I was then asked by the General secretary and outgoing Chairman if I would consider being the figure head of the league. The challenge was now set in front of me.

This season has seen Member teams either disbanded or have left to play in another league, this caused the league committee major headaches. My goal along with the committee`s assistance is on trying to bring these member clubs/teams back to the Bexley league and to provide the football we all had been previously accustomed to.

I did state when I got voted in that this obviously would not happen overnight and to give the league a chance.

It is important to maintain standards on the football pitch and I as the Chairman have expectations. I would want to know that all the registered players in the Bexley league compete in a suitable manner, are playing to the best of their ability and most importantly are respecting officials, managers, supporters and of course opposition players.

It is also is most important to remember that the Bexley and District Junior Football League is both child and club friendly.

Another focus for me as Chairman is to look at ways of supporting our member clubs and helping them achieve the next level,Charter Standard.

I would finally like to pay tribute to all of the Bexley league committee, they have and are working really hard to ensure that our standards are not only kept but are raised.

Wishing you all the very best in Football,

Yours in sport
