Stapenhill finally got both hands on the Championship Cup.
With 2 games left to play, Stapenhill finally got both hands on the championship cup with a 2-0 defeat of Aylestone Park, after a midweek hiccup, of a 0-1 home defeat by Kirby Muxloe, delayed what everbody expected to happen in recent weeks.
The scrap is now on for the runners up prize and, whilst Barrow Town hold station with a 0-3 away win at Birstall Utd, Kirby Muxloe, with a superior goal difference, made themselves favourites with a 5-1 defeat of already relegated Rothley Imps after their midweek win at Stapenhill.
Ibstock Utd stayed in the mix, but may run out of games, after a 2-3 win at Downes Sports, a double from Matt Moore pushing the Sports down into the bottom 3 coupled with relegation fears.
Thurnby Rangers, went down 4-2 at Anstey Nomads after Ant Ward hit a double to push the Rangers to their 6th defeat in 7 starts, all their early form wasted as they slip down to 5th spot.
Holwell Sports consolidated 6th place, 5 points behind the Rangers, which may be a bridge too far for the Sports to climb above the Rangers after they were held to a 0-0 draw at Highfield Rangers, who moved out of the bottom 3, above Downes Sports on goal difference.
A 2nd half fight back saw Ellistown remain unbeaten in their last 8 starts to post their 3rd win on the spin, 2-3 at Thurmaston Town and the 1-3 away win by St Andrews left Ratby Sports in the 2nd bottom relegation position with 5 games to play.
Blaby and Whetstone eased their relegation niggles with a 2-0 defeat of Bardon Hill Sports, both goal scored in the 1st half.
