FC Britannias NAPIT ONE title hopes suffered a huge blow on Sunday as they were beaten by three goals to two by relegation haunted Hepthorne Lane. A victory for Britannia would have seen them leapfrog Hasland into pole position however a Dale Heggarty brace plus a third goal from Burrows shaded it for Lane, a victory which moves them up to fourth from bottom. Killamarsh Juniors Athletic visited bottom side Tibshelf Town and in a close game were indebted to James Edge who scored twice and Gary Parsons whos goals cancelled out strikes from Steve Garret and James Hill.
In NAPIT THREE Creswell Black Diamond began the day bottom and after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brickmakers who themselves are involved in a relegation battle, they stayed there. The men on target for the winners were Jason Tyler and Dale Beech.
In a really tight title chase in FIVE Midland Hotel were looking to take advantage of leaders Hosetech Mills inactivity by beating Chesterfield Arms. In the event Arms produced a sterling display to hold the title chasers to a 3-3 draw, the result meaning Midland went level on points with Hosetech they stay second on goal difference. On target for Arms were M Woods who scored twice and J Herrett who scored once. For Midland C Basson scored one, R Cawthorne twice. The big North Wingfield derby game the spoils were shared as bottom placed Gate Inn held AFC North Wingfield to a 3-3 draw, M Harris, A Walker and A Woolvern netted for AFC, D Kirk twice and Z Wright for Gate Inn. Railway Club Athletic stay third after beating Butchers Arms Spartans 2-1, three points behind Midland Hotel.
It was a good day for the lower placed clubs in NAPIT SIX with four of the bottom five clubs recording victories, the only exception being Brimington Club who were emphatically beaten 6-0 by fifth from bottom Langer Lane. J Machant was a man on a mission as he blasted five of Langer Lanes six goals, L Croft adding the sixth. Second from the foot of the table Bull and Badger beat Woodthorpe Inn 2-1 thanks to goals from S Whitehead and D Shaw. Third from bottom Dronfield Wanderers just edged out Clowne Wanderers Reserves 3-2, J Stevens scoring twice S Collins once whilst fourth from bottom Boythorpe put six goals past New Whitt B who scored three goals of their own. J Ryan 2, J Fox, P Bent C and P Marchetta hit the winning Boythorpe goals. AFC Bolsover on the other hand moved up to second from top after two Josh Parfitt goals plus one each from James Taylor and J Rushby earned them a 4-0 win at Dunston Rovers.
In NAPIT SEVEN Holmebrook Tavern continued their promotion push by beating Fidlers Rest 2-1, Danny Wainwright and Richard Start hit the winners in a victory which moves them above North Wingfield MW into second place, although they have played more games. Old Whittington MW welcomed Duckmanton Community to Brearley Park and beat them by five goals to three. Steve Clarke and Alex Smith both scored twice for Whittington, Tony Redman once with Mark Reynolds scoring twice for Duckmanton.
In NAPIT EIGHT two games took place which saw Markham Arms beat Miners and Diners 4-2 and AFC Grouse and Holmebrook Tavern 2nds draw 2-2.. The match winners for Arms were Gregory who scored twice, Philips and Manlove once each, whilst in the drawn game Smith and Lawton scored for Grouse, Wayne and Marven for Tavern.
